SCAPE researchers have been working for some time on extending power-related work to the memory subsystem. Matt Tolentino has led efforts on this thread resulting in a publication at ACM Computing Frontiers 2007. The paper, co-authored with Joseph Turner and Prof. Cameron, described formal control theoretic techniques for turning memory chips off and back on while limiting negative impact on performance.
